Winter Wonderland

This was my first cake order.  It was for a little girl's winter wonderland first birthday.  The colors for the party were ice blue, white, and silver.  Although I was intimidated at first, I'm so happy with the finished product.

I met with the mother and grandmother of the birthday girl for a cake tasting and boy was I nervous.  It was a big undertaking just to do the cake tasting.  I baked a couple dozen cupcakes in different flavors and filled them with an array of fillings.  Then I frosted them with different icings.  Finally we had their selection of vanilla cake with butterscotch frosting.

I worked on this cake, little by little, over the course of three days.  The fondant snow flakes and chocolate snowflake topper were made a couple days in advance.  All the baking was done the day before, and decorations and final touches were completed the day of.

Once this cake was delivered and I saw the excited faces, I was able to let out a sigh of relief.  The first order was stressful, but I think it was worth it!
